Let's talk about...Goth-ember Sunday - Nevermore earrings

11/06/2016

Hello, hello, hello! I’m back!
I know it has been a long time, but it’s been some crazy times – I’m currently in between job search (in fact I have another interview tomorrow, so wish me luck!), designing for competition and home stuff, so finding time to write the new post was really tough.
In fact, I planned to write a new post for Halloween, but… I had no Internet! Yeah, you heard right. I’ve decided to be clever and change to Fibre Optic Broadband two weeks ago, everything was fine for like two days, and last Saturday – no Internet at all, no amount of resetting, unplugging router and checking cables helped.

I had several fascinating conversations with my broadband providers (I applaud the patience these ladies had when dealing with panicked me), waiting for replacement router, only to plug it in and have the same issue as before, and finally getting an engineer on Wednesday fixing it.
But yeah, it’s good now, so here I am.

You might wonder about the title of the post - Gothember – don’t fret I’ll explain in just a sec.

It was Halloween last week (hard not to notice), so I took the liberty of checking Halloween jewellery.

Some of it I liked, some of it I found slightly too obvious or cliché. I think that because Halloween became something very much commercialised designers don’t spend as much time when designing stuff for holidays like Halloween or Christmas.

It seems really easy to label something as Halloween jewellery by slapping Jack-o’-Lantern design on it. But is that really a good way? Maybe if you buy something cheap that you don’t intend to keep, one day fashion, so to speak. But is that really a good thing? Not really. I think that jewellery should be something that could be worn on many occasions, cherished for years to come. So I thought – why not design some beautiful jewellery that could be worn for Halloween, but not necessarily only then?

Every Sunday of November I intend to upload new – slightly more Gothic - jewellery design. To top it off I’ll add some illustrations I’ve made as inspiration for each of the pieces.

For today – “Nevermore” earrings.

Till next time!
Stay golden!!!
