Let's talk about...Inspiring September Friday - Theo Fennell

9/09/2016

If one jewellery designer was to be given a title of Lord of the Rings, it would be without a doubt – Theo Fennell. Not to say that his work focuses entirely on rings – it’s just that his ring designs are unlike any other, as you will see. But first a bit of background.

Educated at Eton College, art school at York and the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, his first job was as an apprentice and designer at Edward Barnard, family-run silversmiths in Hatton Garden, London. After gaining experience in the workshop and as a designer he went solo in a small studio of his own in Hatton Garden, designing and creating silverware and then jewellery, before founding his company “Theo Fennell” in Fulham Road, London, in 1982.

As of now, he creates bespoke trophies and gifts for companies, charities and events such as The Italian Formula One Grand Prix, The Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, The Dubai Championship Stakes, the Man of the Match Trophy for the FA Cup Final and the Nordorff Robbins Silver Clef Awards.

His designs are not only extremely creative.

The amount of detail and use of techniques - for example enamelling or engraving is astounding.

They are beautiful, but there is a level of humour and playfulness giving them charm all of their own.

There is much more of his work on Theo Fennell’s website – I would encourage you all to check out Masterworks for his one-off unique pieces.

                                                              Stay golden!!!
